E3 Impression - DOOM 3 (Xbox)

I was able to get 10 minutes of personal time with
DOOM 3 on the Xbox, thanks to my appointment with Activision on Thursday.
Needless to say, I was blown away at how good this game looks on the Xbox, when I know for damn sure that a PC trying to run it will need to be super-expensive and completely up to date. Shadows (which there are a lot of, the game is DARK), lighting effects, backgrounds, and even damage to enemies looks incredible, as do the enemies themselves. Enemies do disappear after dying, though, presumably to save resources and keep the frame rate up.
The game moves slow, but I don’t mean in frame rate. It just has a slow progression to it, which helps with the horror theme of
DOOM 3. Add in the moans and such of nearby enemies, and it can feel pretty scary (and I was in a dark room playing to boot).
Controls were pretty standard for an Xbox FPS game, so they’re fine that way... I just wish your flashlight could be put on the bottom of some weapons, as switching from it to a weapon can be a real pain in the ass.
Overall, there isn’t much you can get when you only get 10 minutes to play... but it is looking impressive and I’ll almost definitely be picking it up for my Xbox. I just wish we could have tried multiplayer...
