Sony's annual E3 Playstation party extravaganza was last night. Starting at around 7:30 pm and running until 1:00 am-ish, it entertains thousands of folks from the industry with live music, free food and drinks, and a fun place to chill with your peers. Among those thousands were four from GAF, including myself, Eli, Wade, and Sam. This is Wade's sixth year or something and my second,so each of us had a little experience at one of these.

Last year's had Foo Fighters and George Clinton as the two main acts with two lesser known bands as the secondary acts. This year, however, was a totally different style of music with the order of bands being Black Eyed Peas, Missy Elliot, and Crystal Method. Each put on a good show, despite that I don't really care for any of them. In between each group was this firy dancing group with drum and bass music. Entertaining, but it mostly served to make it so that there was not a single moment that a normal conversation could be had. My ears are still recovering from the hip hop onslaught and I don't think my heart will be beating regularly for a while after all the drum and bass.

The party was quite fun though. We met some new people and saw a few people we already knew, though not as many as I expected. With so many people there, it's hard to find the ones that you know. Either that or they are purposefully avoiding me, a distinct possibility.

The real party crasher was the food though. Compared to last year, it really wasn't that great. So tip to Sony: next time you spend millions of dollars for a single night to entertain lots of developers and such and a select miniscule amount of press, foot-long hotdogs are not the way to go. I'm just a whiny brat sometimes though because I gorged myself on chocolate chip cookies :). The party was great and I'm definitely looking forward to next year's.
