GAF Blogs E3 » Sony Conf. Live Blog

Note from Rich: We will be blogging the Sony E3 Conference at 3pm EDT/6pm EDT today (as well as the Microsoft conference later) as best we can. Stay tuned to this page and reload to see new updates.

11:45 AM

I'm waiting to get inside the studio for the press conference. I got here a little early, and the hotty of a security guard was very helpful. So helpful, I'm should take her out...

Anyway, should there be an electrical outlet near me, I can charge up this thing and get to doing a live blog of the event.

Important information, should I have access, will be delivered to you, the GAF readership, as it comes out.

Let's hope for this to work out, otherwise I'll be on the phone to Jenn and Josh and they'll be updating you with the specs, games, and all manner of other important stuff, like the hot gal that just walked right by me, as I tell them of it.

So, let's wait and see.

12:57 AM PDT

I'm sitting next to Sydney, the guy running the DJ booth. He's been nice enough to let me charge up my laptop so I can try and blog this stuff for you. We had an outage of the WiFi for a little while, but it seems to be back online now.

I just saw Adam Sessler and Morgan Webb and that other guy from G4 I could care less about (I forget his name I don't care for him that much). They went straight for the food.

Anyway, let's hope this works out for you guys.

1:39 PDT

Just got done talking to Mike Capps from Epic Games, they're showing off Unreal Tournament 2007 on the PS3 today, and Gears of War at the MS press conference.

There will be no WiFi inside the press conference, but worry not! I will be calling people with important info and they will be updating this blog on the fly as the conference goes on! Live blogging 4 eva!

3:01 PDT

The conference is moments away. The site is NOT doing well at all though. We'll still do our best to blog the event. If things don't improve, expect a wrap-up of the whole conference when it is done (not that you wouldn't get that anyway).

5:18 PDT

Rich speaking. Hot damn. We started getting tens of thousands of visitors all at once. Needless to say, the site was taken down and rather quickly. Perhaps a new server is in order? Certainly a new host is because it took this long to get us back online. I must say I'm very disappointed in Valueweb. It took them almost two hours to press a couple buttons on our server. But that's a story for another day. We're about to put up the full Sony conference info, which will be linked from the front page. Let's hope the Microsoft live blogging goes a bit better than this.

Interesting you say that:

FFVII was actually run (not promised, but run) in real time on the PS3 this time around. Square apparently has a new FF title on the way.

No promises this time, just action it seems.

(I'm through for the day, I'll just shut up and let the GAF.com boys reveal everything that went on first hand ha)

Well didnt sony promose FF8 in real time for ps2? I won't hold my breath for Sony this time. Not tryin to be a hater. Just cautious.
blkstarr - 5.16.2005 at 08:13:13 PM
God I love the way the PS3 looks... I'm in love already ha. Now to get to the matter of seeing the games. I hear that "The Getaway" looks incredible and I also heard that Sony ran the spiderman CG render from Spiderman 2 in complete real time on the PS3 hardware. I can't wait to see this stuff for myself.

Just saw a link to GAF on /.

Good luck.
drakken - 5.16.2005 at 05:59:46 PM
Yep. :-/

Rich is trying to fix things as best he can.

I'll be updating this blog soon; I'm expecting a call from Sam any minute now. :)

mmm, the server bog-down is in full effect now, i think.
blkstarr - 5.16.2005 at 05:14:55 PM
I don't doubt that the PS3 images could be legitimate, but I don't like them so I hope they aren't. Just poor design, and I'm not sure why they would get away from the horizontal/vertical synergy they have used last generation and the other competitors are using this round. It's a bit of an eyesore in my opinion.

As for that other article, 160 GB? Jesus that's a lot... I wouldn't mind it however, but I do have to wonder how finacally feasible that despite the relatively cheap cost of HDs currently.

And amen to live blogging forever...

Though I think we all know that only the Strawberry fields can ever really last forever.
blkstarr - 5.16.2005 at 04:55:33 PM
I thought for sure this would be a Xbox 360 exclusive as well... But I don't know what's going to be better, this one or Gears. I think Gears may have the upper hand in the graphics department, but then again...
drumlord - 5.16.2005 at 04:54:46 PM
Josh, that doesn't prevent Epic from continuing to develop it :P
joshschw - 5.16.2005 at 04:48:59 PM
"they're showing off Unreal Tournament 2007 on the PS3 today"

huh? I thought Microsft signed a publishing deal for this?
sugoi - 5.16.2005 at 04:21:40 PM
I'm eagerly anticipating this one. Hopefully it'll be a bit more detailed than the non-event that was the 360's unveiling.

The live blogging is super cool, by the way. Keep it up, Sam!
blkstarr - 5.16.2005 at 04:18:36 PM
There we go... I wonder why Nintendo was the only one who had the decency to start the morning off right? I'm definitely excited about seeing that hand too, and if there's a Mario title shown I'll be cleaning stains out of my shorts for months.
amankhan - 5.16.2005 at 04:17:04 PM

@Kettcar:

Microsoft's was (is?) supposed to be today as well, and tomorrow morning Nintendo's is expected. Correct me if I'm wrong, those in the know.
williamsburroughs - 5.16.2005 at 04:12:10 PM
I am confident that E3 will provide the necessary information to establish X360 as the dominate monster of this next generation of consoles. But hey, at least Nintendo will reamin a strong third place - that's not so bad...
kageshin - 5.16.2005 at 04:05:20 PM
Hottie security guard, eh?

PICS. NOW.

XD
kettcar - 5.16.2005 at 04:01:34 PM
Would anyone be that kind and tell me the dates of the two other major press conferences, Microsoft's and (more important) Nintendo's?
ps3junkie - 5.16.2005 at 03:19:53 PM
Yes!!! WE WANT TO KNOW THE SPECS OF THE PS3 NOW !!!! I NEED MY HIT!!! I AM PS3 JUNKIE!!!
blkstarr - 5.16.2005 at 03:16:07 PM
Good god... I'll worship you forever if you live blog this... Oral sex? Not out of the question either ha.
