Megaton Feature Introduction
Company X + Company Y = Game Z
Welcome game lovers and those of you who visit GamesAreFun.com for the free
cookies (see Aisle 12). In the past few months, the press has been in a stir
over Nintendo's notorious announcement that will, reputedly, rock the gaming
world. This supposed huge announcement has been met well by nearly all who've
heard. Nintendo fans have hailed this as if it were the second coming. Hardcore
Xbox and PS2 fans have held their own, but even they wonder what could possibly
cause such a stir in the gaming community.
There have been many proposals and rumours as to what the Megaton announcement
may actually be. Could it be a GameCube 2 that has discs containing 300 times
the space of a DVD? Is it the Gameboy Advance 2 that now has a backlit screen
and can be easily played through a GameCube onto your television? Is it a buyout
of a company? Many have been talked about, including Capcom, Sega, and even
potential deals with Sony and others. Possibly its some form of new virtual
reality technology.
Whatever the Megaton announcement may be, it hasn't been announced yet. Nintendo
of Europe has stated that there isn't any such thing as the Megaton announcement,
but some believe that NoE's traditional naivete involving Nintendo of Japan's
inner workings is proof enough that that may not be true. Nintendo of Japan
simply remains close-mouthed about the matter, as of the writing of this
particular feature (12.31.2002).
Here at GAF, we wonder what may result from a Megaton announcement. Some of
the most possible Megaton's are buyouts or mergers with companies. What might
result from this? Well, that's what we're here to show you in this feature.
