Let's get some sticky up in this bitch or it may be doomed to a fate of obscurity among the lost and forgotten.

PS: Forum noobs are the proverbial sauce.

Well, I was trying to remain elusive.

I'm Scarfy and even though I'm way awesome I'm still humble and totally nice. Don't listen to what the others say about me, it's all lies and hearsay. :D

I'm Polster. I'm fierce. And the newest forum member eventhough I joined months ago, =P

EDIT: Since most people are writing their biography. I'm 21, my real name is John. I live in the upper east side of Manhattan. I'm a broadcast communications major with a minor in journalism. I've interned at MTV Studios in Times Square for my sophomore year of college. I'm gay and I am a gamer. So gay + gamer = gaymer. The word has been coined. I love Starbucks and I work there. That's it. =
  4.
I'm Justin, former news editor of GamesAreFun.com and current associate producer on X-Play. I like long walks on the beach, the nostalgia Chrono Trigger invokes in me, and 40 hour runs through Mass Effect.
  5.
I'm Carlson, age 22, news editor and podcast extraordinaire for GamesAreFun.com! I love retro gaming (and new releases that take me back to what I call the good old days of gaming, like Castle Crashers!) and my Dreamcast 2... I mean my Xbox 360... I am also a rabid Sony hater not only for their part in the demise of my favorite console, the Sega Dreamcast, but also because I am on my 9th PlayStation 2 console. I currently work as a Shift Leader at GameCrazy in Kalamazoo, MI, and am going back to college next semester for Broadcast Journalism.

I'm also poor, so if you could spare a coin sir, I've got childrens to feed...
  6.
I'm John. Other than scarfy, I probably make the most nonsense comments on the forums atm. I'm mostly into gaming as a social hobby (lan parties, etc), but I do some solo gaming in the FPS, adventure, action, and rpg genres.

    My name is Terry.

My posts are the ones you'll find dripping in effort. I care about your forum experience, so I'm out there giving 110% so that you may perchance find yourself something to lol over, or maybe even rofl. Every now and then, if you're lucky, I may produce a gem worthy of lmao over. No need to thank me, it's what I do.

I am an adventure gamer to the core and a dyed in the wool puzzle solver, but for social reasons, let's just say I have a hard on for plastic phalli. I am, of course, alluding to guitar-sim gaming. Don't be shy in asking me to play Guitar Hero or Rock Band at any given moment. As of this post I'm trying to get married and finish up my PhD research, but I'm still down for some multiplayer madness whenever humanly possible.

    Welcome to the forums.

Systems of tRNA misacylation in H. pylori

    That shit better cure cancer.
  11.
stuffofepics will obviously have a better understanding, if he chooses to divulge his wisdom, but from my tiny understanding of the topic, it has to do with mistakes in the translation of new amino acids in the formation of peptide chains. H. pylori is a bacterium, methinks. Now, what the application of that might be, I have absolutely no clue whatsoever.

Ha, ha. Stomach ulcers at best. H. pylori is the leading cause of stomach ulcers worldwide.

The bacterium produces key growth components that differ significantly from mammalian components. Because of this, they're hot targets for pathogenic treatment. A lab like mine will study the biological system surrounding the phenomena, while another may work on our findings and develop an actual drug/treatment.

Pizza's on the right track as to what the system involves. All cellular life revolves around using amino acids to make proteins. In this process tRNAs are used to shuttle the amino acids to where they need to go for protein synthesis. This shuttling involves attaching the correct tRNA to the correct amino acid (~20 amino acids and about ~20 corresponding tRNAs). The error part comes in to what happens if the wrong amino acid gets put on the wrong tRNA; this causes catastrophic error failure (ie. the cell dies).

Where H. pylori comes in is that it intentionally puts wrong amino acids onto the wrong tRNAs, a process that should be lethal, however it survives; even more, the process is necessary. It turns out that bacteria like H. pylori have a way of changing the wrong amino acid to the correct one and this bass ackwards process is the only way the cell can produce the proper amino acid-tRNA pair.

Because humans don't use this process, its a sexy target for drugs and treatment. If we can hit this process we can treat humans without harming them (specificity). Specificity of treatment is an important thing. It's why treatments for cancer and HIV are so brutal, because the treatments are unspecific and kill the victim along with the cancer/virus.

If that diatribe doesn't welcome a forum noob, nothing will.

Wow, gastrointestinal work. I knew a guy who had over 160 stomach ulcers in high-school because he had Crohn's disease. He can't drink anything but soda, water, and beer. He can't eat fruits or vegetables (especially garlic and onions).

I was goofing around with making one but decided I didn't have enough time. It was probably around the time I took my current job so I was very much right that I would not have enough time.

    "Newest User: bitchgirl"

Interesting name, I must say. Welcome to GAF.
  18.
Current theory: bitchgirl is terpfen's latest alternate account.

The malicious and dasterdly plot behind this particular alt is to prolong Lacey Chabert conversations by introducing a die-hard antagonist in the form of the forementioned 'bitchgirl'.

Incidentally, the only way to prevent this scheme from invading your forum experience is to adorn your modem with a tin foil hat.
