Besides spilling the beans on Square Enix's exciting
Final Fantasy XII, this week's issue of
Famitsu has a slew of reviews of upcoming games that may interest you. Since there are so many, we're going to provide a convenient list.
Phantasy Star Online Episode III: C.A.R.D. Revolution (GameCube) - Sonic Team's newest installment in the uber-addictive online RPG series is just around the corner in Japan, and it looks like GC owners have something to get excited about. Famitsu's reviewers gave it scores of 8, 8, 8, and 8, for a total of 32/40 and a silver award.
PSO Episode III features a card-battle system, the first for the series, and promises to conclude the Ragol story that the first two episodes are set in.
Everybody's Golf 4 (
Hot Shots Golf 4) (PlayStation 2) - Disappointing sales of
Everybody's Golf Online didn't stop Sony from quickly making a new game in the fun arcade golfing series - in fact, they probably encouraged it.
Everybody's Golf 4 earned the highest score in this week's issue, with straight nines, for a 36/40 and a platinum award. Let's hope SCEA brings this one over.
Onimusha Buraiden (PlayStation 2 ) - Capcom's
Super Smash Brothers-like fighting game set in the
Onimusha universe isn't due out until next year in North America, but it's coming all too soon in Japan. To be titled
Onimusha Blade Warriors here,
Buraiden will also feature cameos from a bunch of
Mega Man characters, including Zero and Mega Man EXE.
Famitsu's reviewers gave it an 8, a 7, a 7, and a 7, for a 29/40.
F-Zero: Falcon Densetsu (Game Boy Advance) - The latest in the
F-Zero series, subtitled
The Legend of Falcon, is about to arrive for everyone's favorite portable. Based on the forthcoming animated series,
F-Zero: Falcon Densetsu features the same Mode-7 inspired racing that fans of the series are familiar with. It garnered marks of 7, 7, 7, and 8, or 29/40.
R: Racing Evolution (PlayStation 2, GameCube, Xbox) - Namco's new take on the
Ridge Racer series is just around the corner in America and Japan, lucky for everyone involved. More driving sim than powersliding machine this time 'round,
Racing Evolution hopes to win the gold with a new story mode and a stress meter, which effects the way drivers perform based on opponent interference and positioning. According to
Famitsu, it's worthy of a silver - straight eights, adding to 32/40, give it a silver award.
Zero - Crimson Butterfly (
Fatal Frame 2) (PlayStation 2) - Get ready to pee yourself; one of the scariest games yet is getting a sequel, and it looks even creepier.
Famitsu liked
Zero - Crimson Butterfly, awarding it a tally of 33/40 (8, 8, 8, 9), a gold medal score.
Wild Arms Alter Code: F (PlayStation 2) - If you, like us, adored the original
Wild Arms and are worried that Sony might screw up its PS2 reshowing, fear not.
Famitsu says that the developers at Media Vision have done a wonderful job of bringing the PSone classic up to date. New characters, scenario elements, graphics, and music earn
Wild Arms Alter Code: F a gold award, with individual points of 8, 9, 8, and 8 (33/40).
Gotcha Force (GameCube) - At one time rumored to be on the chopping block, Capcom's
Gotcha Force is due out for the GameCube soon in Japan. Bearing a striking resemblance to Nintendo's own
Custom Robo,
GF lets players pick toys and customize them, then take 'em for a spin in arenas where they do battle. It scored a 29/40, or 7, 8, 7, and 7.
Gotcha Force is due out in North America next year.
