News - First Gunstar Super Heroes images and details

Posted by Josh Freund at 07:53:56 AM EST on 4.20.2005.

Last month, Sega trademarked "Gunstar Super Heroes," which led many eager Treasure fans to anticipate that a sequel to/port of the Sega Genesis/Megadrive Gunstar Heroes was in the works.

Well, anticipate no more, but instead, know.

According to Play magazine, Gunstar Super Heroes is a sequel being developed by Treasure and published by Sega. It will be released for the GBA, though when isn't known.

Here are the first five screens (scanned images, so they're low quality):

How do you miss a game that can be emulated?"

When you either don't play crappy emulation, and/or haven't played a real copy in years. There is such a thing as life without illegal gaming you know.

Dude. This is Gunstar Heroes. This isn't Gran Turismo. This NEEDS to be on an older-looking machine like the GBA.

I am happy it is being made.

I am f***ing angry that it is not being made by me.

GBA? So what about the two photos floating around of a Gunstar Heroes game running on the PSP? Maybe those were faked... but they're well-done fakes if they are...

Damn, what a waste of a possible PSP game.

I'm glad it's on GBA. That way it gives me the option of playing it on the go or playing it on my TV. If it were strictly on DS or Gamecube, you'd have to have one or the other.

I was lucky enough that my brother's freind had this game (I didn't have a Genesis at the time). I loved it, and have played it many times since then. I can't wait for the sequel, this was a great game for one or two players (but was exponentially as fun with 2 players). I can't wait. ^_^

I'm stoked but, why the GBA...? (I know why but I really didn't want it on the GBA, rather have it on the Cube or DS, at least there's good sound hardware there...)

^^^looks like a few new gun upgrades too.... nice one. For some reason i think one of them looks like some sort of boomerang. But yes, Gunstar Heroes was one of the premier shooters of all time.... god, so much fun to play...

Yep, I missed the original. There's a good chance I'll pick this up, if not when it's released, then sometime down the road when it drops in price.

god... I'll stand in line for this one. Gunstar is STILL one of the premier shooters ever made. You'd all be wise to keep an eye on this sequel since you likely missed the original like everyone else.

Oh my god. I have to get this one. This one should sell by the truck load to the retro fans. I'll buy it for sure.

Thank Treasure and Sega

The low quality is due to the scanning... not the visual quality of the game, correct?
