News - Latest Famitsu review scores - Jade Empire, Trauma Center

Posted by Ron Kimberly at 01:12:08 PM EST on 6.8.2005.

Most recent Famitsu review scores:

Sly Cooper 2 (PS2, Sony): 8 / 8 / 7 / 8 - (31/40)
Trauma Center: Under the Knife (NDS, Atlus): 8 / 7 / 8 / 8 - (31/40)
Drakengard 2(PS2, Square Enix): 8 / 8 / 7 / 7 - (30/40)
Jade Empire (Xbox, Microsoft): 7 / 7 / 7 / 8 - (29/40)
Inuyasha: Ougi Ranbu (PS2, Bandai): 7 / 7 / 7 / 7 - (28/40)
Nonono Puzzle Chai-Rian (GBA, Nintendo): 7 / 7 / 7 / 6 - (27/40)
Smart Bomb (PSP, Eidos): 6 / 6 / 7 / 7 - (26/40)

As you can see, Jade Empire, which was very well received in the US, didn't seem to overly impress Famitsu, though 29 is still a decent score.

I'm damn glad Trauma Center got a good score since I'm eagerly await this than most of the other games out there. Bravo to Atlus for bringing us something fresh and I hope we get a sequel to it.

Hey, Phoenix Wright should be good too. Just because you can't use the mic as much I doubt that will stop you having fun with such an original game. If the DS version does well we might see more of that in the future too.

their score for jade empire seems about right to me, and although it's nice to see sly 2 getting some recognition in japan, even 31/40 seems a bit low for the best 3d platformer on the ps2

I disagree with 29/40 for JE, but I concede that it shouldn't be a whole lot higher than that. I think it was rated a bit too highly from most of the American publications, and perhaps this is why I took it back after getting about 15 hours into it. It's got a good battle system and a fairly interesting plot, but it's nothing special really. I'd meet somewhere in the middle in terms of both territories scoring of this title.

Josh...you cant add that.....I would say add 2 points for FPSs from Famitsu....

But Jap. love RPGs so there is no reason to add to it.

JE was overly rated by so many sources... I rarely disagree with GAF's scores but the 10 is way too high a score, IMHO. JE is more like a ~8.5. But yeah, it's all about tastes.

Famitsu's score for JE is probably accurate for an NA developed RPG.

They must have really liked JE. since you have to add at least 10 point to Xbox scores from them.

Trauma Center got good marks I hope its hard and plenty of variety of stuff to do (You know not ALWAYS helping the patients...)

Well, I know for certain that you have to yell "OBJECTION!" into the DS.

That said, I have my doubts about the localization.

31 is good for trauma Center.....Kinda wanted more though...
Jade Empire had a good amount of problems.
BTW about Phoenix Wright.....I am not looking forward to that much anymore....I was countin on Capcom to use The Microphone feature BUT no.....Same Text based think....

Personally, I disliked Jade Empire quite a bit. But that's just me.

28 for that goofy-looking Inuyasha fighter? Impressive.

Somebody on staff said something along the lines of "I'd give Jade Empire a 6" but Jeremy was not disuaded. He clearly liked the game. I have yet to play it or KOTOR.

...yes, I run a gaming site ;)

Jade Empire wasn't that great. The storyline was weaker then the KotoR series (too generic) and the gameplay, especially the fighting, which was supposed to be very interactive and fun (like Kotor) became very repetitive allowing you to just mash one button and win.

WTG Trauma Center. I'm really looking forward to the North American release. This, and Phoenix Wright will keep me busy for quite some time.
