According to GameFront,
Climax, known for past action RPGs such as
Landstalker (Genesis) and
Dark Savior (Saturn), is working on a new action RPG. Climax plans to reveal the project at this year's Tokyo Game Show in mid-September.
Sure, that's not much to go on, but it's a good bit of news for those who enjoyed Climax's previous efforts.

Drakken, I'm talking about the developer info for Climax you have listed in the article. That is Climax Studios (located in the UK), while the one that made Land Stalkers and Dark Savior is Climax Entertainment (located in Japan).
The one making this new game: http://www.climax.co.jp/
The one that made Sudeki: http://www.climax.co.uk/
And yeah, I do frequent GFF. Why?

There are two Climaxes, one from Japan and one from Europe. I think one is Climax Entertainment and the other is Climax Inc or some other second word.

For what system?
*crosses his fingers for GBA or DS*
Hmm.. now that I think about it..
There are a ton Genesis games out there that need to just be repackaged and shipped out in GBA cartridges, I mean.. seriously. They could still make money off of that. If Sega sold just a straight port of Sonic 1 on the GBA.. I would pay full price for it.
That said.. Landstalker is awesome and I still play it on my Genesis 3.

Well I'm glad to see Climax putting on their rpg boots for another adventure after so long.
Sure it's been a while but lets hope it gets onto a system that deserves it games. We need a long overdue champion to Landstalker.

They didn't make Alundra. Alundra was done by a company called Matrix, not Climax. The confusion comes from Working Designs' marketing. Back when they released Alundra 1 they kept saying it was "from the creators of Land Stalker". I guess a couple people from the Alundra team were former Climax coders, but I really don't know.

"I didnt even know they made Alundra, I never even played it."
Crap, I wrote that? Sorry, I wasn't thinking, I have both Alundra's. lol, my bad my head was definitely somewhere else when trying to write a comment.

Well, a sequel can be bad regardless of whether or not the original was good or bad. Given that, he wouldn't have to know how the first one played. Still though, I know what you mean. It's just that he's not comparing it to the first and saying it was worse, he's just saying it was bad in general.
Although I'm speaking for this person without actually knowing, I just assume I'm correct.

How do you know it was a horrible sequel if you never played the first.....?

Landstalker was an awesome game, I enjoyed every minute of it although I wasnt able to finish the game. I didnt even know they made Alundra, I never even played it.
Hopefully it'll be good, Alundra 2 was a horrible sequel.

I never got too far into Landstalker, but I love Alundra. That was one of my first PS1 games. Hopefully this will be a 2-D game.

Climax hasn't made a good game since the early 90's. They did help with Shining Force and Shining in the Darkness, though, so I can never dislike them. Wait, they did Alundra so scratch the first sentence entirely. They also took the programming they did from the first SF and turned it into FEDA, which I bought assuming Japanese couldn't be THAT hard to just pick up after a few sittings.

Drakken, my desire to hit you over the head with a plushie has never been so strong. =P
Seriously, Landstalker is one of my all-time favorites. The high difficulty, combined with the intelligence of the puzzles makes it a real classic.
Dark Savior was a real disappointment though; the difficulty was so much lower that while it was a great technical achievement for the Saturn (it was programmed entirely in assembly), fans who were hoping for a game that took Landstalker's gameplay to the next level found themselves pretty sad.
Also, it is worth mentioning that there was another game in the series between Landstalker and Dark Savior - Lady Stalker (SFC). Although I must admit that I only played the import for about 5 hours, it seemed like a fairly solid game.
Needless to say, I am incredibly excited by this news!

hasn't Climax been on a bit of an unfortunate downward slope, though?
after Landstalker and Ladystalker, Climax Landers/Time Stalker was kind of a letdown. Okay, it was a huge letdown (although quite a decent game in it's own right).

I've only played part of Landstalker, but it seemed pretty solid, if a bit boring.
