No way!!! Snake better NOT die saving the world; corny hollywoodsque ending never. He better kill "Who ever is behind this whole thing", get out alive and die of old age in peace finally. But just as Big Boss said: "Who ever stays on the battlefield shall fight forever. would be cool if he turn into a ghost or something, but no dying from a wound saving the beautiful world... I think it is not snakes style either. Besides saving the world does not seems to be the point in the new Metal Gear... I think it is more like surviving a MASSIVE WAR AMONG SEVERAL ENEMY FACTIONS (who is the "good" guy and the "bad" guy is pointless when everyone wants power)fight for your own liberty too I guess... Also, probably, as in MGS 2 "Prez" Johnson said: "We need the Patriots to keep the balance of power". Those nasty looking images (Thanks om3ga) have led me to think of a darker turn in the game's story (I don't know, just a hunch). One thing is clear that world is not the same any longer... I just hope Snake doesn't die at the end of it.

By the way any confirmation on a new episode after this one? I read the have plans for either one or two more. In Hideo's words "Metal Gear is going to stay around for a long time"

I was pissed because I played MGS game to play as Snake(A bad ass manly character)not to play as another Transgender Pansy who looks to weak to even hold up a gun.

I hated Raiden as a character because he acts like a total wuss. He looked/played cool, he just whined/sulked too much when Snake is a total badass.

If Snake dies, it had better not be of old age. I mean, sure, it's a nice sound to it if the hero saves the world umpteen times and dies of old age, but if the hero saves the world for the last time, even after sustaining a mortal wound, that's just a cool way for a hero to die. Besides, I just think Hideo would be more along the lines of taking out Snake in a heroic blaze of glory. Anyway, this is just if he dies here. After all, everyone's just speculating about this.

On another note, I'd like to have Raiden show up in this game. MGS2 was the first game in the series I played, and I never could understand why people hated Raiden so much. Anyway, the teaser from before does more than just suggest that Snake's the lead in this one.

Even fans want the death of snake. j/k It's probably just because Hideo likes to do things on a large scale. A lot of people will recycle the same hero over and over again (Nintendo [insert hero]) but he's now on 2 or 3 characters, depending on how you look at it. It'd probably be nothing usual if he killed off Snake and went to a new character.

I still think this is Big Boss though.

konamicode, you better be right. It's a damn good game.. but it was impossible to see anything. I refuse to play the older games because MGS3 was "improved" and I couldn't stand not seeing my enemy.

Actually, MG AC!D is supposed to be thought of as a separate series. Much like the old GBC game it is non canonical.

As for Otacon, there seems to be two versions of him that contradict in regards to his age. In the Twin Snakes he just looks older than what they have in Sons of Liberty. In the latter he just looks a lot younger (like in his 20's) but then has grey hair and all in the first "Solid" game that made him look like he was around mid-30's. He looks like he's in his late 40's in the above picture though this all can simply be attributed to better graphical detail. I'd wager a time difference of about at least 12 years or so since MGS2.

I believe that this character IS Solid Snake. I mean, it's seemingly unlikely that Kojima would start showing other characters first unless they are the established protagonists of the series. I think that "eye patch" is simply one of Snake's equipment and that this could be the episode that Snake finally dies.

By "finally dies" I don't mean in the sense of "I hate Snake and I hope he dies" kind of way, but in the sense that it's a point in life that everyone takes. Fictional characters don't tend to "die" especially for a popular series like in videogames. So if they're trying to be realistic then there will come a time when they have to tell Snake's story to end of his lifespan.

Think about it this way, we've been slowly introduced to other characters to control, whether it's Big Boss or Raiden. The story arc surrounding the genesis of Solid Snake may not last forever y'know. It might end and a new Metal Gear story arc might be formed around new heroes and the complexities of their lives.

Just a thought.

I guarantee the camera angle won't be like previous MGS games. Kojima has already experimented with an over the shoulder, 3rd person view with MGS3. It'll be included in Subsistence, and is likely the groundwork for MGS4's perspective.

It's probably Snake. Big Boss lost his right eye, not his left.

It would make sense for Snake to naturally take his spot in the story, in a sense.

The more I think about it... yeah. It'll probably be awesome and everything. As for Old Snake, the only that annoys me is the 'stache. I think a Connery-style beard would be cooler... but like anybody over at Kojima Productions is going to listen to my dumb ass. Might as well be the mullet from MGS2 all over again.

I think the game will start off at pratically the end of the game, and then flash back to a few years previously and tell the story of what led up to that point.

i really don't mind playing as "Old Snake" just as long as they let me play as a younger snake too. though snake should definately keep his beard.

It's hard to even tell what's going on. SO, since this is so early anyway, I think I'll just say what came to mind first:

I don't like how this old prick has a mustache. Give him a Fu Manchu, I don't care. Not the god damn Rod Farva 'stache.

I'm not sure this is cool, the idea of being snake rules but the idea of being grandpa snake does not.

The snake in the E3 concept art had a beard, I doubt the fogey is really Snake, though I could be wrong! This game looks great! I can't wait! If you have anything bad to say about this game, then you have no soul... like hippoofdoom!

meh, i donno. I'm not exited. First off, i'm actually not impressed with the graphics, they look like doom 3 graphics, everything looks like a cartoon. Graphics can't save a game, i want to see what it's like in action, i want to see the gameplay, then i'll make my judgement.

Judging from Otacon's picture, he is about 10 years older than from his last appearance in MGS2, maybe more. And by the looks of his mullet and cigarette, my bet is that that old guy is Snake and the game is set in the future. And does anybody not notice that that "metal gear" machine has realistic legs?

Looks to me like its more than 2 or 3 yrs after MGS2 cuz even Otacon is lookin kinda older plus that screen has an army rollin thru a city with what look to beey mini REX with organic leg covers. But this WILL be the game I buy the PS3 for sooo at least I have plenty of time to start savin up the cash. I highly doubt it will be launch prolly 2nd if not 3rd gen.

MGS3 didn't use any prerendered cutscenes, so MGS4 will probably work the same.

Also, when does big boss wear sneaking gear? If that is Big Boss then it has to be a prequil. Snake gets BB's headband when he dies, or so the plot goes.

That has to be Big Boss; although snake might be a little older, I can't think of any reason he'd suddenly seem to be in his mid-60s.

Big Boss, on the other hand, could just be looking VERY GOOD for being in his 80/90s.

Very possible, he always loves doing that, what with characters appearing just like others in subsequent games, e.g. Gray Fox & Olga as the Cybernetic Ninja
