News - New Super Monkey Ball title?

We've got more new game details here at GAF today, this time involving simians in balls. Yes, there seems to be a new
Super Monkey Ball title in development. Is it
Super Monkey Ball 3, the one featuring LAN and more modes, the one you GameCubers have been waiting for? Nope.
Instead, this new
Monkey Ball is a story-based platformer being developed by
Traveller's Tales, the same developer behind
Lego Star Wars. You'll travel as everyone's favorite monkeys through five different worlds seeking, well, new balls. And of course, a few of the series' popular party games will be added in as well.
We're not quite sure of all the consoles
Monkey Ball Adventures will be released on, but we can confirm it will appear on the PS2 and PSP. Given the series's track record, a GameCube release also seems likely.

the fact that they are completely changing the play of the game is very upsetting to me. Why would they change such a wonderful puzzle game into a platformer!?!? i loved the game cube SMB games, and i will probably buy this one, but that sucks that it's no longer...super monkey ball... now ti's gonna be Super Monkey Adventures...In a Ball

jfn2: Those who don't have all consoles perhaps? I only have a GC, mainly because a lot of the titles on the PS2 and Xbox don't interest me much, and I don't plan to buy a console for only a few games, making it collect dust under my TV.

I did not get this information from a source that got it's information from the Official PS2 Magazine, yet I knew what consoles it would appear or possibly appear on.
PSP, PS2, possibly GC. Why not DS? Because it's already getting a Monkey Ball title. Revolution will most likely see Monkey Ball 3 online.

Okay, the reason it's "confirmed" on PS2 is because this news piece is sourced from Official PlayStation 2 Magazine.
No-one is saying Sega are only going to release this on the PS2, or that it's a PS2 exclusive, or that they are stupid for confirming it for a system where it sold much less on. THE ARTICLE IS FROM THE OFFICIAL PS2 MAGAZINE. Why would that magazine confirm a GC game being made? They wouldn't, which is why we haven't heard about it yet, but we will soon enough.
Some people are far too quick to criticise without fully understanding the facts.

Wow. Guess porting it to ps2 wasn't a very good idea financially-wise.
Which begs the question:
WHY is it confirmed for ps2, the system it sold horribly on and not GC, the system it sold very well on? X-P

I've only played it on GC, but I can imagine it aint as good given that the Dual Shock analogues are like button mushrooms.
I'm quite surprised at how many Monkey Ball games they have made. Does the series sell well?

Really needs to be on the GC. Playing SMB on the PS2 is a painful experience.
