News - Nintendo of Japan Marketing Report Pictures

We have a special treat here today, courtesy of some anonymous fellow with a digital camera in Japan and Gek54 of the Gaming-Age Forums. This book is apparently the
Nintendo of Japan Marketing Report, and as you can tell, it is quite spiffy with pictures of prototype Revolution controller designs, prototype Revolution cases, concept pixel sketches of the original Mario, and a bevy of other interesting things to delight Nintendo fans and fans of graphic design in general.
The booklet is speculated to be distributed to Nintendo shareholders or internal staff only, so how you might just get one of your very own is uncertain.
Enjoy.

"So apparently the inspiration for the Rev controller was...an electric razor?"
"An electric razor wasn't exactly my first thought..."
hahaha, looks a cross between a power dildo and an electric razor

Dang, so Nintendo only once thought of having more than two reachable buttons. I mean is having like at least four on the face of the thing such a crime?

I'm disappointed that the guy isn't naked in the reflected pictures. Hasn't Ebay taught us anything worthwhile?
Buyer beware!

Pic 23 looks like they were annalyzing brain waves and stuff to how someone reacted to the Brain Training games.
I doubt it's hooking up the guy's head to the DS, even though that would be wicked cool.

That is so HOT. I wan't the Rev controller next to the blue one, the one that looks like it got burned in a fire.

Pictures 2 and 26 make especially nice desktop backgrounds.

I knew Nintendo wouldn't let us queers down... look at the logo! ha
Anyway, this is suprisingly cool. But like all other suprisingly cool things, it's just beyond my reach.
Also, what's with the high quantity of Nintendo related newsbits these days?

"but it looks like there's a Hammer Brother on that lineup of characters!"
You should check out Mario Superstar Strikers (or whatever the exact name is for the Mario soccer title that came out last year). You can pick Hammer Bros. to be on your team.

"I'm curious as to what happened on 9-23-1889 is that when Nintendo was founded?"
Yes. They started out selling trading cards (in fact, is this the earliest anyone's been selling trading? I can't imagine it going on for much earlier).
I'm more interested in everything that happened before 1980....it looks like MOST of that page happened before the NES, I want to know what breakthroughs happened then.

Wow.
If one of these popped up on eBay, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Just such an interesting lookthrough with all that art and stuff.
Just think how much a compilation of Miyamoto's sketches would rock... oh man...

Sorry for the double-post, but does anyone else wish that Petey Pirahna would wither up and die?

"Come on, I wanna see whatever video is on that disc :)"
I think that's Iwata's keynote at TGS 2005, as noted on the front of the CD. There should be a translated (dubbed in English) version floating around the net somewhere.

Maybe I'm blind, but where are the pics of the prototype Revo cases?
And I think it's interesting how we have 3D models of Mario characters that we haven't seen in actual 3D games yet. Unless I'm mistaken and Baby Luigi is in Mario Party 7 or something.

The "jelly controllers" are most likely prototypes.
