2. NDS - 37,204 (738,884)
3. PS2 - 27,549 (504,216)

8. NGC - 1,080 (43,649)
9. GBA - 46 (2,396)
10. XBX - 30 (1,357)

Total sales: 245,192 (down 30,459 from last week)
Last week's: 275,651

Notes: As with software sales, hardware sales were down across the board this week. Combined sales of the DS Lite and regular DS were about 20,000 lower than last week's. The only consoles to not have a weak week were the GBA SP (which saw weekly sales rise by about 1,000) and Xbox 360 (which only sold 14 less than last week).

The weekly positions stayed the same, save for the PS2 being back on top of the PSP. Milestones of note include the DS passing 1.5 million total sales for 2006, the PS2 passing 500,000, and the GBA SP passing 100,000.

For reference: Last week's sales

Just because you didn't throw the first french fry doesn't mean you weren't involved in the food fight. I was giving fair warning in case the ranting continued.

Stop the off topic inane rantings or both of you could get a temp ban. These aren't forums; they are comments for a news article. All discussion should be at least somewhat mildly related to the topics in the article.

bignfanboy 4.24.2006 at 10:38:37 PM
You misspelled one? What the hell were you trying to spell when you typed out "auditory"? And yes, they are both wrong. I can understand perfectly well why you would think "audibly" is the proper word, but I can assure you it is not. I know, believe me. I have gone through this before many times. You said "Visually and auditorally, it was Silent Hill." And then the online dictionary that you yourself used as a reference states "the new musical was visually and aurally appealing". I mean what more proof do you want?
+0 karma
nekofrog 4.24.2006 at 08:14:48 PM
I did not make a word up out of thin air. I misspelled one. Then you claimed that both usages of my words were incorrect.

They were not.

Do you even read your own posts before you make them?
+0 karma
bignfanboy 4.24.2006 at 06:19:36 PM
How was I wrong to begin with? And a moron? You made up a word out of thin air and all I did was correct you... I wasn't even in your conversation. And I am sorry, but you are still wrong. I am not going to call you a moron or get defensive like you are doing because I have made the same mistake in the past and have been corrected because of it. It's okay to be wrong, no one is perfect.
+0 karma
nekofrog 4.24.2006 at 04:20:07 PM
Yes.

I said that audibly, it was Silent Hill.

Meaning, what could be heard in the movie was Silent Hill.

Is that difficult to understand? Seriously, you are one of the biggest morons I've run across on the forums. What did one single word matter spiraling the entire conversation like this? Especially when you were wrong to begin with?
+0 karma
bignfanboy 4.24.2006 at 03:32:16 PM
audible is something that can be heard.

as opposed to something that is inaudible, which cannot.

if someone is speaking too low, you ask them to speak audibly.

the correct word is "aurally".

from http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=aurally

"aurally-

adv : with regard to sound or the ear; "the new musical was visually and aurally appealing""

the end.

drumlord 4.24.2006 at 12:52:28 PM
Wow, way to be off topic here. jesusfreakdk: Please avoid posting to directly bring discussion off topic. That goes double when it leads to spoilers. And triple when it leads to idiocy like the posts below this one.

I liked the Super Mario Brothers movie.
+0 karma
nekofrog 4.23.2006 at 02:17:21 PM
Uh, no?

It's not that difficult to adapt something as deep and as rich as Silent Hill (pick any, they all work -- except SH4).

You can adapt the first game almost as an exact clone and still add explanations to make it make sense to the average viewer. It's NOT that difficult.

The problem is, people like to "reimagine" things to make it seem like THEY created it. That's where problems begin.

People seem to be missing the point. Visually and auditorally, it was Silent Hill.

Plotwise, no. Not even close.
+0 karma
onizuka sensei 4.23.2006 at 11:32:12 AM
You know thse kind of adaptions are weird, half fans expect to see the film exactly like the game but if that was done that would onlt please gamers when the mainstream filmgoers and horror fans might not have played the game.

I don't care what highbrow mags and website think of it but the majority of what I've heard has been good . Silent Hill is a damn sight better than the likes of Doom or Resident Evil.

Silent Hill is a positive step in the right direction. I'm glad atleast Neko liked SH's atmosphere, because I feel REs went out the door when they started playing that damn rock soundtrack instead of similar creepy music the games have.
+0 karma
nekofrog 4.23.2006 at 05:51:04 AM
No, the script itself is downright awful. The cinematography is what was good.

Seriously, ye olde speake was cheesy 50 years ago, now it's just stupid. And not scary.

haven't you people learned to stay away from videogame adaptations?
+0 karma
eggmanimn 4.23.2006 at 01:00:34 AM
So what? It wasn't supposed to be the first game's storyline. It was supposed to be a film using elements from the games. You could far far pickier than that. Hell, you could point out that the song played during the credits (You're Not Here) is from Silent Hill 3 and not either 1 or 2 like every other element. Or how Dahlia was the one that tried to create a god using her daughter? It's obvious that they weren't going for the same story at all so why try to pick on them for it?

The movie had a different backstory from the game but it used things (settings, characters, some ideas, etc) from the original storylines.

Also, the reviews for the movie are garbage. Yes, a lot of the acting is laughably bad but the script itself isn't bad.
+0 karma
nekofrog 4.22.2006 at 11:34:58 PM
Uh, yeah, it DID rape the backstory.

In the original, there was an actual reason for burning the child and keeping her in that state for 7 years. To birth the other half of the demon.

There was no demon. There was no Samael. There was no cult. It was just a bunch of Jesus freaks who still did the whole Salem witch hunts. That was really retarded.
+0 karma
d.lo 4.22.2006 at 11:25:47 PM

Oh boo hoo, nekofrog didn't get it. Oh no, it wasn't EXACTLY what the games did. Too bad. Doesn't mean it RAPED the backstory at all.

And no, watching the movie doesn't give anything away for the other movies. It takes pieces of the first two games and mostly makes its own story out of them.
+0 karma
dr.ew 4.22.2006 at 10:18:59 PM
I only played the first game. Will watching the movie give away anything important from the sequels?
+0 karma
nekofrog 4.22.2006 at 08:10:29 PM
No, Silent Hill was awful. Great visuals, but a total raping of the backstory. There is nothing to "not comprehend". The writing and dialogue were especially attrocious.
+0 karma
mahew 4.22.2006 at 05:52:37 AM
Maybe Silent Hill is a brilliant movie that the mainstream reviewers just can't understand? The contrast between the hype and the reviews is certainly interesting.

Isn't calling this week's sales weak a little strange just based on a fluctuation of a few thousand consoles? The DSes are doing superbly as always. The 360 on the other hand has had nothing but weak weeks.
+0 karma
eggmanimn 4.22.2006 at 02:43:28 AM
Silent Hill was a great movie. The plot was kind of confusing but I got through it just fine. It ended up being very enjoyable. You just can't like happy endings.

bignfanboy 4.21.2006 at 11:48:51 PM

jesusfreakdk 4.21.2006 at 10:00:45 PM
In other news, Silent Hill just released today. However, I was pretty reluctant to see it after it's horrific (no pun intended) reviews...20/100, 17/100, etc...

Here's a particularly fun gem I found:

"Uwe Boll had nothing to do with this movie, but it has his general feeling of murkiness and poor plot structure."

Profit's have to exceed the cost of development for them to matter."

profit equals revenue (income) minus costs. so for there to be a profit at all the revenue has to exceed the costs. if revenue and costs are equal we would say the company "breaks even," if costs are greater than revenue then the company suffers a loss (e.g. microsoft with the original xbox).

Neko, according to some of your previous posts in past weeks no one else in the console market is even "trying" anyway (or whatever). Well, this lack of "trying" is going to have the Revo go neck n neck with PS3 in Japan. Go ahead and shoot this down with all ya got and call me a fanboy and whatever other $*&# you want but it's gonna happen, you'll see. For the record I own ALL major consoles and handhelds and enjoy them all so I'm not being bias.

caulfield 4.21.2006 at 10:18:23 AM
Profit's have to exceed the cost of development for them to matter.

I think that Nintendo might sorta look at the GC with shame, purely because it was them giving in to pressure from their competitors. There's nothing about the console that makes it better or different from PS2 or an XBox (besides the game library). To me, that makes the little beast just kinda another average console.

If they have to bow out of the market, I'd rather it happen with something like the Rev. Something risky and interesting.

Nintendo is making a profit off the gamecube.

Therefore, it is doing fine.

"wow, that is stupidest analogy I have ever heard."

Not quite. Looking at Nintendo as a sanitation worker is good, since they're cleaning up the crap of Sports games/GTA/racing with innovative game design.

Microsoft would be retarded since it's not all that clear they know what they are doing (though getting better, I will admit).

Sony is easily the doctor. Know why? The systems they make keep breaking so you keep having to send them back to the doctor to get fixed. OH SNAP!
+0 karma
troid23 4.21.2006 at 08:16:19 AM
The gamecube isn't shameful...it was fairly successful, just not compared to the PS2 (which sold outrageously well this gen). And the hype surrounding the revolution is pretty high, if you haven't noticed. Not just here, but Japan as well. I mean, as far as japan goes, if you release a brain training game along with some new Nintendogs games for the Rev...that alone would solidify them as a contender during the first few years in Japan (alog with the mario's and zelda's and SSB's). Here in America though...Nintendo will need those and some new IP's, which they have promised us. Let's see if they keep that promise.

ifrit 4.21.2006 at 08:09:55 AM

these comments are really entertaining.

and if jus' cuz the GC isnt doing wicked-awesome-cool, doesn't mean ninty should give up.

i don't think they'll ever give up. until they go bankrupt.

and i think sony's closer to bankruptcy than nintendo.
