The weekly Famitsu gaming magazine in Japan recently shipped out its issue for the week of April 19th. These are the scores given, in order of review score (descending):

PS2 - Winning Eleven 10 - 9/9/9/9 (36/40)
PS2 - Dragon Quest Shounen Yangus - 9/8/9/9 (35/40)

PS2 - The Conbini 4 - 7/7/6/6 (26/40)
DS - Tea Dog's House DS - 7/6/7/6 (26/40)
PSP - Evangelion 2 - 6/4/7/7 (24/40)
PS2 - Izumo 2 - 7/6/5/5 (23/40)
DS - NARUTO 4 - 5/5/6/6 (22/40)
PS2 - E'tude Prologue - 7/5/5/5 (22/40)
PS2 - Kimisuta - 5/5/4/4 (18/40)
PSP - Mai HiME 2 - 4/4/5/5 (18/40)

It's worth noting that yet again a Xbox 360 title did very well in Famitsu, but sales of the 360 in Japan still aren't getting much better. What will it take for Microsoft to win a reasonable amount of market share in Japan? Feel free to weigh in on that issue in the comments.

What are the FIFA sales like in Japan? Considering how massive the Winning Eleven sales are, I'd imagine most Japanese gamers don't fall for FIFA's licence and marketing...

@vinny: Maybe the PSP fits their game idea best. Ever think about that?

there'll have to give 360's away with every ds and ds lite perchase!

vinny, its sony. developers feel that no matter what sony makes, its gonna be a instant success. im guessing they believe the psp still has a chance. if it was Nintendo on the other end, it would be a different story!

Would someone explain to me why developers keep making PSP games when the system isn't selling as well as the competition and the games rarely sell well? How many times have you seen a PSP game on the top ten?

I'm sure the convenience store sim gets pretty violent with all the holdups. =p

I'm pretty sure there is, in fact, a series of games about running a convenience store, so that's presumably what it is. Feel the excitement? I suppose you can make a sim for anything.

I hope that 'conbini' isn't katakana for convienience store, or else that is probably a very boring series.

Actually, that's what I'd give MI2. It's not some amazingly deep game but it's good for casual fighting game fans who just want a quick 3D fighter with KoF styled moves. Lot more stuff than the first.

What the hell is the Conbini 4? And when were there 3 other Conbini's?

Uh, Fifa isn't exactly the hottest thing around in Japan... >_>

And Famitsu actually thought Ninety-Nine Nights is worse than Dynasty Warriors 5, which can't be good, as DWs aren't especially good games either.
