We've got several new
Pokemon Battle Revolution screens here for ya. The first screens feature legendary Pokemon in full 3-D glory, as well as a nice overhead shot of one of the stadiums. The last three screens show the three starters from
Pokemon Diamond and
Pokemon Pearl for the DS.

Looks like they're using the same models from the GC games again for Kyogre and Groudon, and by extension, the old N64 models for the R/S/Y and G/S/C monsters yet again. Shot #6 really highlights this.

To me it doesn't make any sense to have a home console Pokemon. Sure it might have looked great, but then who would want to go back to buying a portable sequel/next installment when they'd rather have a home console version?
However with the Wii now availble to go online, the ability to trade with people should be far easier and therefore warrent a home console version of Pokemon. But I doubt that Nintendo would be willing to give up the portable success of Pokemon until later.

we didn't get one on the 64
we didn't get one on the cube
suprisingly enough, nintendo still aren't giving us a fully-fledged pokemon rpg on the wii
do nintendo hate success or something?

I'm actually wanting this game. With WiFi and DS Connectivity, I can see this being a major title on the Wii.

it could be the boy FRLG trainer since he resembles Ash a lot.

Call me crazy, but that sure does look like Ash Ketchum in the background of the first screenshot.

also, the style of Stadium was better. the style they used for the attacks in the GC games sucks in comparison and the music was 10x better in the Stadium series too.

we will never see a pokemon RPG following the cartoon's footsteps. the cartoon is the one that actually tries to be like the game. they introduce all the new areas featured in the games and have put the girl trainers from RSE and DP in the cartoon. then they add a little more since the main ideas were already in place.
also, the games feel more original and unique the way they are. if it was a copy of the cartoon, then many would be disappointed.
an RPG based on the cartoon would be better as an action RPG and not the traditional RPG that the handheld games represent since the cartoon is very action focused and many of the things present in it are impossible in the games and viceversa.
also, when seeing the pokes as a whole, every generation has it's share of good and bad pokes. even RBY. nostalgia sometimes blunders that and makes the old ones look like "omg amazing lol" but there have been a lot of good pokes introduced later that would mop the floor with the old ones in looks and power.
i just want them to boost the polygon counts of the pokes. i envisioned them looking like Pikachu/Mewtwo/Jiggly/Pichu from SSBM but the GC RPGs were stuck with N64 models. time to retire them and make new ones, for once at least.

IMO, a Pokemon MMORPG would kick ass.

Oh wow, destroying the battlefield. I wonder if by chance that you're playing in a building you can make the fire alarm go off by using flamethrower like how Ash did in pokemon with pikachu & thunder.

Let Square-Enix produce it and you'll see the Pokemon RPG of a lifetime.

I don't know why Nintendo doesn't want to make a full-fledged Pokemon RPG for home systems, but the reason its making this game is obvious:
It demonstrates DS connectivity and online gameplay with one of Nintendo's most popular franchises...all within 3-6 months of launch. A full-fledged RPG would take until at least the end of 2007 to develop.

Reasons why we won't see a Good Pokemon console RPG.
1. Nintendo probably doesn't want to overshadow the main portable games, which are huge money makers.
2. Nintendo is a little cheap on some of their console projects in the past few years. Probably because they were gearing up for the Wii.
3. It kind of goes against the whole Monster in my pocket thing the series was based on.

Yeah, I'm still waiting for the GOOD Pokemon RPG for a Nintendo home console, but I'm not sure we'll ever get one after the mediocre Gale of Darkness for GC. And to think I thought this would actually be it when I first saw the trailer, and then being disappointed that this would only be another addition to the (imo) not-so-good series of Pokemon games that Pokemon Stadium started.

Actually I just thought about it for a few minutes and I take that back. I think the new Pokemon they've introduced after Red and Blue are pretty lame thus far. Sorry to all you Pokemaniacs out there, but that is just one man's opinion. Plus I remember Pokemon Stadium being a little unfulfilling. What I'd really like is a full fledged 3D Pokemon RPG with our old pal Ash Ketchum. That would be sweet. Bring back the glory days.

Yeah that, and the fact that you can use your DS as a controller/ data screen really sold me on this game. Check out the first screen in the news post; you can see the little DS icons.

Look at these screens just made me jizz my pants. And I haven't played a Pokemon game in about 7 years.
