News - New Resident Evil 5 (PS3, Xbox 360) scans

Famitsu recently did a big ol' cover on Resident Evil 5, full of pics and info that...uh...we don't really understand yet.

What we do know, however, is that it will star (heh) Chris Redfield, who is sent to to investigate an incident in a desert region. Body temperature will play a role in the game, as hallucinations from the heat will affect the character's ability to shoot accurately. The enemy will be an intelligent human-type that is neither zombie or ganado, and a female character from a previous Resident Evil game will be making an appearance, as well.

We hope to tell you more about Resident Evil 5 as it nears its late 2008/early 2009 release (And even now, that release window is genuine assumption).

I hate to agree, but this does seem like a train wreck that you can predict will happen a year from now.

...which is a shame, b/c it looks like it will play like RE4, which means it will probably be awesome.

That is probably a Hong Kongese magazine that has translated everything into cantonese from Famitsu. Maybe they have their own edition of Famitsu running there, they are Japanese freaks in Hong Kong after all. I kinda mind my source when I read an article, so I'm not just bitchin' :)

In the interview, he says expect the game before 2010 meaning late 2009.

I loved Re4. but I still liked the original's a bit better, while 4 had a fantastic combat system I hate the "action/horror" theme. I mean there were only 2 or 3 scenes that bordered "creepy"

I miss the horror :(

I'm guessing almost nothing is true. Also, Capcom has gone to extreme measures to ensure that Wesker's voice actor has been the same since Code: Veronica. Why would they go and hire a new guy?

Don't believe anything you see on IMDB; everything you see is user-submitted info.

I could go there tomorrow and post info declaring that Marvin Branaugh, Brad Vickers, and Forest are in the game, and it would appear there.

I also read on some Resident Evil fan site that a voice actor was hired to play Billy Coen for this installment. It would be most likely that he should be in this one too since his past is similar to the setting for this game.

But it looks like they took out the voice actor but it also appears that the female character is Jill. And some more surprising characters in this one too.

I don't see any reason for Sherry Birkin to come back. At all.

She was involved in RE2 as a little girl, but beyond that, she has no reason to be involved with anything in terms of combat.

The only thing I can even remotely imagine is that she was "kidnapped" because at one point she harbored the G-virus. But this would be repetitious and boring -- besides which, Wesker already has a sample of the G-Virus.

I really think that female character could be Sherry Birkin if that scan is showing who the returning female might be.

I thought I heard Rebecca was coming back, which would be pretty awesome. I don't remember where I saw that, though (obviously not somewhere with a true confirmation).

I was freaked out for a second when I zoomed into the second picture near the bottom, my comp screen cut off the "PS3" in the "PS3/360" system icons on the bottom and I was only seeing 360. I was like omg wtf?
