Sega's huge "explosive" announcement this morning was apparently quite a disappointment to Sega fans everywhere. Nobody seriously expected a hardware announcement since it would be business suicide, but everybody wanted something great. Here at GAF, we heard a number of possible scenarios, including
Shen Mue 3,
Panzer Dragoon Saga 2 or even the possibility of another
Jet Set Radio. But alas, none of these were meant to be.
Instead, Sega's big announcement mainly centered on their publishing
The Matrix Online. I think the only explosions were that of die-hard Sega fans' hearts. My sarcasm is only due to the lack of explosive impact of the announcement. Despite that
Matrix Online shaping up to be a great game, I and Sega fans everywhere were expecting a bit more.
And luckily for us, they later did reveal a little bit more. They announced that Sonic Team is working on a new
Phantasy Star title currently called
Phantasy Star Universe. The title of course implies a massive world or multiple worlds to be playing in. What it doesn't imply is whether or not the game is online. The only thing we can tell you is that it involves a real-time combat system of some kind and that in the future, you'll be able to find more information at the
official site.
