News - Kingdom Hearts 358/2 Days confirmed for a North American release (DS)

Posted by Christopher Pioli at 11:14:38 PM EST on 12.2.2008.

Kingdom Hearts: 358/2 Days the first of the three new portable installments in the KH franchise, has officially been announced for a release in North America. We knew it would happen, right?

The best case scenario would put the game at an early 2009 release alongside the Japanese version, which is scheduled to hit stores this February.

KH: 358/2 Days follows the story of Roxas and his brief time spent with Organization XIII. Gameplay is mission-based, and up to four players can control one of the four members you select. After the mission is complete, each of the players is rated and ranked overall amongst the thirteen members.

Yeah, it would seem like you don't really need to develop the established Disney characters much... Anybody who grew up with a VCR probably knows those characters inside-out.

True, and I would never say that KH's combat has much depth. I would say that it's quite fun, which is what I was saying to thehawk. The Drives especially are extremely over-the-top, but there's entertainment in simply smashing things into oblivion while looking fancy.

Right. The Disney characters are mostly there for the nostalgia factor and some laughs. I found pleasure in revisiting all the old movies and characters I'd grown up with over the years.

There is no way I could ever play any KH game for the action. They're all so unbelievably easy and button-mashy. I'd say even Dynasty Warriors has more depth to the combat.

The story is pretty much just run-of-the-mill anime plot with Disney thrown in there, which means that a huge amount of the cast can't actually have character development.

The Console Kingdom Hearts games are great games however I did not care for the GBA game. Also, what a stupid confusing name for the game lol

I just play them for the fun, fast-paced action. You should too.

lyn571985, what you're talking about was an April Fool's gag in a magazine... EGM, I think.

You know, the more of these KH games I see, the less enticing it is for me to try the series out. It's starting to look so convoluted.

This is cool news, but what ever happened to Mushroom Kingdom Hearts? is it still in the works or has it been canned?
