The port of the card game
Lost Cities had been missing from the Xbox LIVE Marketplace as of February 20th. Word has come that the game has been dropped from the Xbox LIVE Arcade network, making it the second game to be let go of since
Microsoft established its delisting policy back in 2008. The first game to get dropped from XBLA was the horribly panned
Yaris based on the line of compact automobiles from Toyota.
Nothing seems to indicate the game deserved delisting in terms of its quality. Unlike
Yaris,
Lost Cities was actually
good, earning a nomination at the 2008 Xbox LIVE Arcade Awards and critical raves from IGN Xbox and GameSpot.
Yaris earned a poor 17 on Metacritic, and met all the conditions of
Microsoft's delisting policy.
Lost Cities was developed by
Sierra Online, which has led some to believe the delisting has to do with copyright issues that followed the merger of
Activision and
Vivendi. Neither Xbox community reps Major Nelson nor Trixie360 have commented on the issue.

I feel like I should be downloading some of the games I've been eying up there... like soon. However if they get rid of the Contra games or Double Dragon, it will be nothing short of a crime against gamers.
