Konami is bringing Ys, a long running and very popular RPG series in Japan, to North American shores for the PS2 and PSP.
Ys: The Ark of Napishtim, is the first 3D episode and stars red-headed hero Adol Christian exploring the mysterious Vortex of Canaan, with both land and sea locales.
Featuring many improvements from the already released PC version, the new release will include new characters, new character models, an improved map, additional stages, new enemies, a brand new musical score, and anime cutscenes. With all that new stuff it's amazing they are calling it the same game. Hidden artwork and CG movies of past Ys games can also be unlocked through gameplay. Adol has to power up three magical swords to gain special abilities, combinations, and attacks that can be used in combat and to solve puzzles.
The PS2 release is expected this November with the PSP version following in 2005. If you are still craving more Ys action, head on over to Falcom's
