Nintendo has been so successful with the Wii that they haven't had to introduce any alternative colors, at least in the North American market. The first color besides white to be announced was black and we now know exactly when and how we'll be getting them.
Black Wii remotes and nunchuks will be released in North America on November 16. All of the black Wii remotes are bundled with Wii MotionPlus's and will retail for $49.99. The black nunchuks will cost the same as the white models, $19.99.

agreed. I'm hoping that in the next gen controllers will start dropping in price again. I doubt we'll see anything outside the tech currently in use (buttons, analog sticks, accelerometers, gyros, tracking cameras, bluetooth). Natal is a wild card with its 3D camera setup, but you also only have one per system.
I'm no tech expert, but I suspect the next generation of systems will be an iteration on the concepts being played with right now with MotionPlus/Natal/Sony's tech. Plenty of room to grow there. So let's hope we see some reduced controller costs along the way.

drumlord: Yeah. I'm aware of what they're doing. Nobody wants to make games that use Wii Motion Plus now because they can't be sure people have it.
Still, the nunchuck is a far more useful piece of equipment, and is essential for almost all good Wii games. It's easily the better accessory for the consumer. They just sell it as separate only so they can get people to fork over an extra $20 on a controller.
Now they've made it so you can the fully capable standardish (used in normal games) controller for $70 instead of $80...
Really... a regular controller really shouldn't cost more than $50. They were $30 last gen. I don't care how much more sophisticated the tech is, $70 is way too much, and $80 is flat out absurd.

plenty: I think Nintendo probably wants to push MotionPlus as an essential part of playing Wii games so that they can make more games that require it.
