Atlus U.S.A. announced this week that they will be bringing
3D Dot Game Heroes to North America in 2010.
3D Dot Game Heroes was developed for PlayStation 3 by FromSoftware as a tribute to 8-bit gaming.
"The 8- and 16-bit classics many gamers cut their teeth on are magical, down to their blocky sprites and elegantly simple gameplay," mused Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales for Atlus, while twirling his rattail and wearing a poorly coordinated denim-on-denim outfit. "3D Dot Game Heroes captures all of that legendary charm and more, bringing classic visuals, familar sounds, and a grand sense of exploration and discovery into stunning next-gen realization, all the while giving countless winks and nudges to the fans those iconic games mean the most to. This is pure action-adventure gaming at its finest, a true love-letter to a time-honored genre," he added while putting baseball cards in the spokes of his 10-speed. [As usual, Atlus makes their press releases entertaining so I'm including their words]
3D Dot Game Heroes was released in Japan on November 5. The North American release will be May 11, 2010 and it will retail for $39.99. For more information on
3D Dot Game Heroes, head on over to
the official site.

Yeah, this is basically a professionally-done Zelda fan-game (with a few elements of Dragon Quest and other bits of general nostalgia thrown in). And I, for one, am looking forward to it quite a lot. Cheers to Atlus for localizing it (and charging a budget price).

Looks a lot like Zelda.
